3M™ sought to improve upon traditional securement devices like sutures with its Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs) and Central Venous Catheters (CVCs) in an effort to accelerate care and healing of the IV site. With input from medical practitioners, the 3M™ PICC/CVC Securement Device creates a reliable hold without decreasing patient comfort. How it Works A single-package, suture-less solution, each securement system stays in place with gentle silicone adhesive, utilizes an antimicrobial CHG dressing and a Tegaderm IV securement dressing. This combination: • Provides a superior hold and more comfortable wear compared to traditional securement devices and sutures and will not reduce mobility. • Can remain in place for up to seven days, providing antimicrobial action during this duration. • Allows for gentle, less painful removal and easy application, and won’t lose its grip even after being repositioned. • Works with most PICC and short-term CVC catheters, including 12 French. • Places the dressing around the IV insertion site and catheter hub to kill and control pathogens, offering integrated microbial protection. • Offers a solution against needlestick injuries, reduces the number of dressing changes and potential dressing failure, and simplifies the products needing to be stocked in a healthcare setting. • Meets CDC and OSHA guidelines. • Is free of latex.
