OptiLock Nonadhesive Super Absorbent Wound Dressings

Using a highly absorbent polymer core, OptiLock dressings draw in large amounts of wound exudate. The material then captures the fluid, preventing it from leaking during changes to reduce maceration risks. Non-adhesive construction limits trauma to healing tissue, allowing for painless, gentler removal. How Do OptiLock Super-Absorbent Dressings Work? Designed for use as a primary or secondary dressing, OptiLock: • Absorbs a large volume of exudate relative to the dressing’s weight — about three times than a silicone foam dressing. • Transforms the wound fluid into a gel, which remains inside the dressing to prevent leaks. • Adjusts to the amount of exudate the wound generates. • Features a non-adherent construction that prevents the dressing from sticking and potentially causing damage to the wound and periwound skin. • Can be used alone, with a secondary dressing or under a compression bandage. To achieve this operation, each OptiLock dressing consists of the following parts: • A dispersion layer spreads out the wound fluid over a wider area before directing it to the dressing’s super-absorbent core. • A super-absorbent core traps exudate by turning it into a more manageable gel. • A protective backing prevents fluid from leaking during wear and dressing changes. Uses for OptiLock Super-Absorbent Dressings As a primary dressing, OptiLock is ideal for use on partial- and full-thickness wounds, including: • Pressure ulcers • Venous ulcers • Post-operative wounds • Diabetic and neuropathic ulcers • First- and second-degree burns • Abrasions • Lacerations OptiLock also functions as a secondary dressing for full-thickness wounds. This dressing isn’t ideal for low- to no-exudate wounds and third-degree burns. OptiLock super-absorbent dressings can be used for up to seven days, based upon the amount of exudate absorbed.
